Law Student Training Day 2020

The VFLPN would like to say a big thank-you to Women's Legal Service Victoria and all the students who attended our 'Family Violence and the Law for Future Lawyers' training for making it such a great and informative day!

The training took place this past Monday, the 9th of December 2019 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. It provided students with strategies and skills to effectively identify family violence, assess risk, skillfully ask the right questions and respond to client's needs. It was a great opportunity for students to learn about family violence, or expand on their family law knowledge, and how to apply these learnings in a more practical sense.

Students learnt to respond to clients experiencing family violence, apply the Family Violence Protection Act 2008, explain the family violence intervention order process and explain how family violence intervention orders interact with family law orders and proceedings.

The feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive, with 100% of participants saying that they would recommend the days training to others.

We look forward to providing more training opportunities in the future 📒👩‍🏫😄

Stay tuned for more opportunities coming in 2020!
