The ALRC Review of the Family Law System

Cristiana Tomasino

The Australian Law Reform Commission's (ALRC) review of the Family Law System is well underway. The monumental review is the first independent, comprehensive review of the family law system since the inception of the Family Law Act in 1975 and is intended to acknowledge the changes that have taken place in the social and familial spheres since then.

The review broadly invites consideration of the appropriate role of the family law system in contemporary Australia and how it can be responsive to the needs of diverse families and family structures.

The ALRC released its Issues Paper for its Review of the Family Law System on the 14 March 2018. Click here to view the paper.

The ALRC welcomes submissions from a broad-cross section of professionals and the community in response to the commentary, analysis and questions in the Issues Paper. Submissions can be made directly through the ALRC website, where an online submission form will allow you to respond to individual proposals and questions.
